IVSILA’s usecase is on Foodpacklab.eu

How can DeepTech and Photonics help to optimize production chains in the food industry?
Discover the IVSILA success story, from OptoPartner!

Minimize food wastage and maximize profitability

IVSILA, the Intelligent Vision System for In-Line Analysis of baked product is an innovative project funded by EIT Digital and the European Union. It gathers partners from France and Hungary to respond to the societal issue of food wastage during the production phase in a profitable manner.
IVSILA provides a solution to both the problem of food waste at the industrial level and the problem of efficiency of food production lines.
Thanks to an intelligent vision system coupled to the production line, IVSILA visually inspects production in real time for companies in the food industry. Defective products are reported to the production line’s information system, allowing the sorting of defective products and the correction in real time of the production.

Seacon’s projects in the B2B session.

Horizon Europe Cluster 5 Climate, Energy, and Mobility International Networking Event.

The International Networking Event organised by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) in cooperation with Sabancı University and ARGEMIP under the “Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase II” Technical Assistance Project which is co-financed by the EU and the Republic of Turkey and implemented by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Industry and Technology within the scope of Competitive Sectors Programme.
The event organised as an on-line event and will be held on 18, 19, and 20 October 2021.
The event will cover most of the Horizon Europe Cluster 5 calls that are open during the event time and will be opened soon.
The three day networking event will cover informative sessions about the call topics, pitching sessions for the presentation of ideas & competences and finding partner alternatives for consortiums and one-to-one partnering meetings.
The event aims at bringing together participants from Europe and Turkey, coming from both research and industrial communities working in related fields. This will not only give the unique opportunity to connect with Turkish and European researchers to discuss Horizon Europe Cluster 5 project ideas, but also get first-hand information about the upcoming calls. This event will be an excellent platform to expand the partnernetwork and create new partnerships for the upcoming calls.
Seacon staff also participated in the B2B section of the event with the company’s 3 running Eureka and Eurostars projects, where they talked about cooperation and further development opportunities with Turkish, Spanish, Slovak, French and Maltese partners. Climate change, energy, mobility and transport, as well as self-driving vehicles, were key topics. The issues of water management, water treatment and wastewater were discussed, but the application of museum measurement technology was also brought to the fore by one of the negotiating partners.
The event was attended by 456 participants from 32 countries.

QST is in the European board

Bionuss and Innoskart DIH were selected to implement an innovative experiment using the QST solution.

DIH-World Open call Team selected the DigiNussInfo proposal for funding.

DIH-World is looking for innovative experiments across Europe that integrates digital technologies in the processes, products or services of manufacturing SMEs. Innovative experiments are projects to be implemented by a consortium made of an SME and a Digital Innovation Hub. This first open call addresses any manufacturing sector, with special focus on wood, food products, construction and maritime.

DigiNussInfo project

The aim of the innovative experiment called DigiNussInfo is to introduce a food IT solution that will allow us to trace the raw materials' incorporation chain up to 2-3 levels in the first step and to any depth in the later stages. It is the experiment itself that will show what extent working method and used tools deliver the expected results. We also want to make our production process as transparent as possible and increasingly documented.

The solution to be built in the experiment must be able to track composition, sensory characteristics, and physical and chemical properties. It must be possible to trace the entire production chain: 1) where, 2) when, 3) from what and how the raw material was produced, how the finished product was obtained, and how the raw material was used to produce the finished product. It includes documentation of the quality system and processing technology.

The manufacturing SME and the Digital Innovation Hub

Bionuss Hungary Ltd is a manufacturing SME, which is engaged in the production and processing of organic nuts and nuts in shell while at the same time planning to develop high added value organic nut snack products for direct consumption. On the one hand this requires nuts of suitable quality, intact, free of foreign matter with a microbiological status in compliance with the standards whose origin is known in accordance with food safety aspects and traceable during processing.

On the other hand modernisation and the introduction of innovative solutions to support production are important steps. The owners see digitisation as the next step of development for which the Innoskart-DIH consortium provides a major opportunity. This experiment, which will be carried out in close cooperation between the members, aims to bring the company a significant improvement in the actual product information available in the value chain: in addition to their wholesale partners, they also get closer to consumers they cannot reach directly.

Applying the food solution of Seacon Europe the experiment will result in real-time information to support consumers' perception of the quality of their products.

By introducing data analytics solutions, using cloud technology and in the longer term the possibility of integrating additional sensor-based measurement tools and IoT technology, the planned innovative experiment will stabilise and increase the digitalisation level of the Bionuss. The key business objective of the experiment is to create two-levels product information: both the wholesaler and the consumer can check the origin and composition of the product they buy. The successful implementation of the experiment will lead to the introduction of an IT system in the company that will implement the basic steps of digitalisation. Its implementation will raise quality control to a higher level, as it will provide information on every step of the processing of organic nuts (production, purchase, washing, drying, grading and cracking of organic walnuts), which are the most important raw material.

The DIH-World

DIH-World is an Innovation Action project co-funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union. DIH-World project is part of the ICT Innovation for Manufacturing SMEs (I4MS) initiative that is supporting manufacturing SMEs and mid-caps in the widespread use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in their business operations.

DIH-World aims to accelerate the uptake of advanced digital technologies by European manufacturing SMEs in all sectors by supporting them in building sustainable competitive advantages and reaching global markets. To achieve this objective, the first open call of DIH-World project consortium supports 35 SME-driven experiments.

DIH-World will promote a consolidated DIH network that will accelerate the design, development and uptake of advanced digital technologies by European manufacturing SMEs, in particular towards less digitalised sectors – metal, textiles, craft industries, construction and agri-food – by leveraging on the networks of DIHs.

The DIH-World Network initially comprises 27 DIHs from 26 countries covering a great variety of technologies and sectors. The DIH-World Network will provide a framework to support and animate DIH collaboration and learning, and it will involve a series of DIH-World events (training camps, annual board meetings…) to bring DIHs together to network and get to know each other. The network will also actively support cross-project collaboration to strengthen connectivity, exploit synergies and enhance impact.

Hungarian businesses working together for water

When professional and IT knowledge meet, they must produce something significant. The same conclusion was reached by Waterscope Zrt. and Seacon Europe Kft. when the two companies' managers agreed on a long-term cooperation. The Seansors2Net (S2N) smart wireless measurement  network, continuous data collection and processing, SWAM analysis and visualisation capabilities combined with professional experience which promise great opportunities for the Hungarian and international water management.

From the professional point of view, the essence of cooperation is to produce useful information based on continuous data collection, and to show it in a simple way. Contrast with manual measurement techniques, the solution provided by the two companies can display results from an incomparably greater number of locations, more quickly and much more efficiently. Even in the worst case, the measured value will be displayed within minutes of the measurement on the smart devices, tablets or computers of the experts, who will then be able to make the appropriate assessments.

The partners have also identified the water management areas that could be considered as a first step. They are already working on the processing of surface water quality data, the connection of a smart hydrant solution and the implementation of pressure monitoring. The monitoring of waste water treatment and the implementation of fish farm measurements have also been discussed.

The EUREKA Network application E!13370-MUSEION got the EUREKA Certificate which has been endorsed by the EUREKA High Level Group on 02.07.2021.

The concept of the project, which aims to protect cultural heritage using by modern technologies, was created by a consortium of Romanian, Turkish and Hungarian partners, who together plan to take into account the perspectives of museums, works of art and visitors.

The project will build on the earlier work carried out by BEIA, SEACON and SAMPAS that focused on technologies for monitoring of environmental parameters, data processing and vizualisation. By developing specific algorithms INCTDP-ICPI performs the research on mechanisms governing the environment-related deterioration processes of heritage materials and risk assessment of air pollution impacts on cultural heritage assets.

The implementation of the project started on 01.08.2021 and is planned to be completed by 31.07.2024.

Preservation of values and environmental changes

MUSEION enforces a holistic conception of the preservation and valorisation of CULTURAL HERITAGE. This approach is necessary to deal with the growing challenge of conservation, especially when most of the global heritage is threatened by the environmental changes. The main concern of cultural heritage professionals is a complex solution for the preservation and sustainable management of collections in addition to increased public service.

The MUSEION project will develop integrated solution for cultural heritage sustainable management of environmental control and adaptation to CLIMATE CHANGE as well as for resources optimisations: costs, energy and carbon footprint reduction.

Solution

MUSEION project specifically aims at developing a REPLICABLE IOT-BASED SOLUTION to monitor, evaluate and mitigate the potential impact of climate change on cultural heritage collections by addressing the need for applying knowledge and technology to solve problems of real objects in real conditions - namely sustainable environmental control and adaptation to climate change.
To ensure an optimised climate, it considers at least the 3 principal components of a museum system: the MUSEUM itself, the ARTWORKS and the VISITORS.

International collaboration

The project will build on the earlier work carried out by BEIA, SEACON and SAMPAS that focused on technologies for monitoring of environmental parameters, data processing and vizualisation. Developing specific algorithms INCTDP-ICPI performs the research through its ARCH Lab on mechanisms governing the environment-related deterioration processes of heritage materials and risk assessment of air pollution impacts on cultural heritage assets.

Expected international outcomes of the project:

  • Develop the ability of professionals to adapt to the effects of climate change
  • Enhances awareness on preventive conservation
  • Strengthens long-term planned assessment actions
  • Reduces the maintenance and restoration costs
